Reflecting on Mahshie’s upbringing in Miami and the changing face of this place, fragments are assembled together in synthetic and natural materials, collaged with appliqué techniques in much the same way our memories are constructed, piece by piece, some contrived and others more representative. Layered, translucent, built in rapid and patchwork fashion, intertwined with the organic resilience of the sub-tropical landscape.
